Per Governor Kemp’s May 14, 2020, Executive Order: Summer Day Camps can open and “shall implement additional measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19”. Below are the 32 requirements (in black) as mandated in the Executive Order and how Camp O.P.P. will comply (in blue):

  1. Placing signage at any entrance instructing Campers that they cannot enter if they have been diagnosed with COVID-19 … within the past fourteen (14) days.  Camp O.P.P. will post signage visible in parking lot, front door of Pet Adoption Facility and door of Learning Center. In addition, parents will be required to sign a form stating their child has not been diagnosed, exhibited symptoms or knowingly been in contact with a person suspected to have COVID-19.
  2. Placing signage at any entrance and throughout the facility to instruct Campers of enhanced sanitation procedures, Social Distancing requirements, and other instructions and limitations as applicable set forth below. Camp O.P.P. will place signage, but more importantly will set procedures to hand wash or sanitize hands with each rotation to next activity. Camp Counselors will be trained on social distancing guidelines which will be monitored by the Executive Director.
  3.  Screening Campers at drop-off and preventing any Camper from entering that exhibits <list of symptoms>. Camp O.P.P. will not accept any Camper who is not feeling well upon arrival to camp. No exceptions.
  4. Requiring any persons exhibiting <list of symptoms> shall be separated from the group immediately and must leave the camp facility as soon as practicable. Camp O.P.P. will not accept any Camper who is not feeling well upon arrival to camp. If a camper starts to complain of not feeling well at any point during the day, the camper will be separated and the parent must pick up within 30 minutes of the phone call.
  5.  Requiring any Worker or Camper that has stayed home sick, been prevented from entering camp due to signs of illness shall to not be permitted to attend camp again until <stipulations>.  Camp O.P.P. will not allow any Camper or Camp Counselor to return to camp after not feeling well. Executive Director will work with parent to determine if Camper can attend future camp.
  6. Requiring parents dropping-off and picking-up Campers to remain in their vehicles. Camp O.P.P. will have Executive Director and/or Camp Counselors greet parents upon arrival at their car and will sign-in the Camper (vs parent signing-in which is our standard protocol). During sign-in, Executive Director or Camp Counselor will inquire about how the Camper is feeling.
  7. Utilizing contactless forms of Camper check-in and check-out. Camp O.P.P. will have the Executive Director and/or Camp Counselors document on our standard forms who will be picking-up the Camper.
  8.  Implementing staggered drop-off and pick-up times with specific times for each group of Campers, if practicable. Camp O.P.P. will inquire with each parent what time they aim for their Camper to be dropped-off and picked-up and attempt to stagger if possible.
  9. Providing hand sanitizer to Campers as soon as practicable upon drop-off. Camp O.P.P. will have hand sanitizer at the table where Campers leave their lunches and drinks prior to going inside the Learning Center where camp begins.
  10.  Prohibiting unnecessary visitors to camp activities and facilities. Camp O.P.P. does not allow the public on-site during camp or O.P.P. volunteers unless they are associated with camp activities.
  11.  Discontinuing camp tours.  Camp O.P.P. does not give camp tours during camp because we do not allow the public on-site during camp.
  12. Providing training to Workers on how to identify symptoms of illness in Campers, the proper processes for removing a potentially ill Camper, and the infection mitigation procedures to perform in such an event. Camp O.P.P.’s Executive Director is on-site during camp. As in “normal” times, if a Camper complains of not feeling well, the Camp Counselors alert the Executive Director who calls the parent. For this summer, the Camper will be immediately removed from the group and parent will have 30 minutes to pick-up the Camper.
  13. Providing an isolation area for sick Workers or Campers. Camp O.P.P. will put sick Campers or Camp Counselors wherever on the property that others are not at the time and will disinfect the area once the person is picked-up.
  14.  To the extent necessary, limiting groups to twenty (20) persons or less, including Workers and Campers, in a space where all persons gathered cannot maintain at least six (6) feet of distance between themselves and any other person. Camp O.P.P. will limit the number of Campers per camp to accommodate twenty persons and/or structure camp such that activities always have under 20 persons.
  15. To the extent possible, keeping the same Workers and Campers in the same group for the duration of the camp. Camp O.P.P. divides Campers into small groups typically of 4-5 for activities. Unless Campers are not getting along, the groups remain the same throughout the week of camp.
  16.  Enforcing Social Distancing between groups, prohibiting Gatherings, and prohibiting congregating among Campers belongings to different groups. Camp O.P.P. divides Campers into groups of 4-5 and activities  are performed in different rooms or yards which complies with social distancing. Activities which are typically done as an entire camp (which will now be limited to 20 persons) will be divided such that they are done in smaller groups.
  17.  Providing a separate designated space for each Camper to store personal belongings throughout the duration of the camp. Camp O.P.P. will request parents to minimize the items Campers bring on-site with them and avoid sending large book bags / back packs. Separate spaces will be provided for Campers to put their belongings.

  19. To the extent possible, allowing only one group to use camp equipment at a time. Camp O.P.P. is structured such that only one group is in a room or yard at a time and going forward all items used in the room or yard will be sanitized between groups.
  20. Sanitizing camp equipment after each group use. Camp O.P.P. will sanitize all items used in the room or yard between groups as stated in #19.
  21. Requiring Workers to patrol camp areas to enforce the equipment sanitization policy and conduct additional cleanings during times when equipment is not being used. Camp O.P.P.’s Executive Director is on-site during camp and will ensure enforcement.

  26.  For day camps, if possible, requiring Campers to bring their own lunch and snacks with them to camp each day, with all such food items being in a sealed lunch bag marked with Camper’s name. Camp O.P.P. has always required Campers to bring their own food and drink as Camp O.P.P. does not provide any food or drink excluding tap water.
  27. Requiring all dining facilities …. Camp O.P.P. does not provide any food for Campers.

  29. If camp vehicles are used for transporting Campers to and from on or off-site activities, requiring Workers to sanitize each vehicle before and after use. Camp O.P.P. rents passenger vans for off-site visits to a rescue horse farm, county shelter and veterinarian clinic. Camp O.P.P. will ensure the car rental company from which the passenger van is rented from for each outing has sanitation procedures in place.
