Lil' Bit Has A Home!

Former O.P.P. Adopter, Joe, was ready for a new companion. He had a gut feeling that he needed to visit O.P.P. last Saturday (May 1) which happened to be Lil' Bit's debut. Joe spent a lot of time with Lil' Bit and concluded that he was the one! Lil' Bit's foster dad, Jeff, took him to visit Joe in his home the next day. The visit went great! The decision was made for Lil' Bit to return to his foster home to slowly transition him from his foster home into Joe's home. This past Saturday, Jeff took Lil' Bit back to Joe's home this time to stay! Joe reports that Lil' Bit ... now named Lucky ... "seems to be very comfortable already"!

Lil' Bit's Debut

Thank you to everyone who donated to Lil' Bit's life-saving surgery!! The surgeon reported that Lil' Bit did great and actually released him 24 hours later! The first picture is of Lil' Bit on his way to his foster home for recovery. Lil' Bit's room was ready for his arrival filled with dogs beds and soft blankets so he could choose where to most comfortably rest. The second picture shows Lil' Bit's choice of the soft blankets where he slept as he began his recovery. The final picture was taken after Lil' Bit had his stitches removed. Our vet reports that Lil' Bit has completely healed! So, now it is time to find Lil' Bit his forever home!

Lil' Bit's Debut is scheduled for Saturday, May 1, at Our Pal's Place Pet Adoption Facility, 1:00-5:00pm, 4508 Canton Road.

Lil' Bit's Story

Our Pal's Place was notified by Cobb County Animal Shelter volunteers and workers about Lil Bit who was scheduled to be euthanized within 24 hours. Here is the information we received about Lil Bit:

Little Bit is a 3yr, 60lb, intact male. He came to the shelter as a stray 12/18. He came in with a microchip, but sadly no one came for him. This boy needs rescue because he has a perianal hernia on his right that needs surgical repair AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. He is a volunteer favorite, loves treats, and walks well on a leash. Little Bit is an absolute sweetheart wiggle-butt. He seems housebroken and keeps his run clean.

Our Pal's Place transported Lil Bit from the county shelter to our vet for immediate care. Dr Shepherd diagnosed a ruptured anal gland that had become severely infected. This had to be corrected before the hernia could be addressed. After weeks of antibiotics and steroids, Lil Bit was doing much better. Dr Shepherd then referred Lil Bit to a specialist for the hernia surgery. That office contacted us stating it would be 4 weeks before Lil Bit would receive his needed surgery. While we were trying to find other options, Lil Bit took a sudden turn for the worst. Fearful that Lil Bit's bladder had now become entangled in the hernia and unable to function, Dr Shepherd called the specialist stating it was an emergency. Ultimately, Lil Bit was sent to BluePearl because time was of the essence. Now at BluePearl, the emergency veterinarian reports that Lil Bit's bloodwork levels are "off the chart" and have to be stabilized before proceeding with the surgery. They were able to get Lil Bit's bladder to "drop back into place" which immediately made Lil Bit feel better.

A grateful "Thank You" to everyone who participated in our virtual Valentine's Party. We raised just under $3000 which is now going to save Lil Bit. This coupled with initial donations made directly to Lil Bit upon his rescue from the county shelter and Augie Olsen's fundraiser at Taco Mac this past Sunday, we have an estimated $5600 for Lil Bit's care and surgery at BluePearl.  With the estimated cost of care and surgery being, $7000-9000, we need to raise at minimum $1400 to cover Lil Bit's expenses.  If you can help, please use the donate button below.

Check back for updates on Lil Bit. As always, thank you for your support!!
